The community is boxed in by Dust Lick creek 20 m south, a trail 20 m W and the Bluestone located roughly 30 m east. Above the trail the forest is still some what weedy and successional and does not flood. Within the successional forest are discontinuous tall herb communities dominated by Verbesina alternifolia. A really nice example of this community can be found just across Dust Lick.;This site actively floods and has obviously flooded this season. The forest floor undulates from rocky flood channels to weedy nolls.
Representativeness
Small patch forest on an actively flooded terrace. The overstory is dominated by Platanus occidentalis and contains some Fraxinus. The herbaceous layer is diverse and dense, containing many weedy species.
